As with Art of the Loom, these workshops are taught by Cameron Taylor-Brown on Schacht Wolf Pup floor looms in a fully equipped textile studio - with an abundance of beautiful yarn choices.  Class size is limited to 6 students to allow for individualized instruction.

  • Special Topics in Weaving: Materiality: The Tactile Experience NEW Artist and weaver Anni Albers wrote in her iconic essay Tactile Sensibility that "our tactile experiences are elemental" and that playful exploration of materials is essential to "regain a faculty that was once so naturally ours." We will explore materiality as it specifically applies to weaving, interlacing a broad range of diverse, non-traditional materials in a playful and experimental way – and then create an original woven composition from these experiments. Cameron teaches this workshop at national conferences - this is the first time at ARTSgarage! Cost $350. All materials and use of looms included. Gallery coming soon. March 21-22 register HERE.

  • Special Topics in Weaving: An Introduction to Multilayer Cloth Explore the basics of multilayer cloth in a workshop that introduces you to the concept of more than one set of warp and/or weft threads. Set up your loom and weave experiments with double warp and double cloth constructions - including double width, tubes, interchanging layers and simple pick-up. Students must be able to set up their own loom and have a basic understanding of weave drafts.  Cost $350. All materials and use of looms included. 10AM - 5PM November 21-22 register HERE.

Open Studio Open Studio is for students who have taken one or more Art of the Loom workshops. The goal of Open Studio is for you to become an independent and confident weaver by reinforcing the skills learned in a previous workshop. You will set up your own loom and weave a small project - and Cameron will be on hand should you get stuck. A one day session includes all materials and use of a loom and is $125. You can sign up for more than one day if you'd like - it's up to you!  Open Studio is scheduled by appointment, often together with other students you meet at ARTSgarage.  Contact Cameron here to arrange an Open Studio session.
