Leno Weaving with Deanna Deeds June 30
This one day workshop requires a PRE-WARPED 4 shaft loom. All ARTSgarage looms have been spoken for, so if you sign up for this class you must bring your own loom - a table loom will do just fine!
Gauze, leno, doup... just what do these words mean in weaving? Take a step into the dimension of crossed-warp weaves - learn the characteristics of leno structures and how to make them on a handloom! We will start weaving with an introduction to hand-manipulated leno, then move on to weaving with bead-controlled crossings. Leno fabrics can be open and airy yet still as stable and functional as plain weave. This is a world in weaving waiting to be more deeply explored. Warping instructions will be sent out in May to all those setting up their own looms. If you are renting an ARTSgarage loom, you will set-up at ARTSgarage on Saturday June 29, using our warp yarn. Weft yarns will be provided to all students.
ARTSgarage is located in Mid-Wilshire, Los Angeles. Studio directions will be provided along with confirmation of enrollment. Prior to booking a workshop, please review our studio policies about refunds, cancellations and photography.
